We will visit archeological sites such as Pisac as we make our way to the start of the Inca Trail. Get a refreshing night's sleep in the (included) hotel in Ollantaytambo, the trek starts tomorrow!
Day 3
Sacred Valley to Wayllabamba
Your private tours continues on Day 3 as we drive to 82 Km, arriving at the start of our Inca Trail trek about 9 am. Once we arrive, you will meet with Authentic Trek’s porters and cooks who will be with us on this great journey. After this, we will go down to the first Inca Trail checkpoint to begin our trek (please make sure to have your original passport with you to enter the Inca Trail).
Once on the Inca Trail, the first 2 hours of the trek will be a gentle up and down walk and then we will stop at the first village Miscay. In Miscay, we will have time to eat some snacks and enjoy the views as we make our way to the first Inca site, Patallacta, which is one of the tremendous archeological sites near Machu Picchu. From Patallacta there is an additional 45 minutes hike to our lunch spot. After lunch we will hike to our campsite, during this time we will pass through a beautiful landscape and local family homes. It will take 2½ hours to reach the campsite in Wayllabamba (3000 meters). We’ll arrive at our campsite by 4:30 PM, after settling in you can relax, enjoy a hot drink and snack with your team of porters, chef and guide. This provides a great opportunity to learn about your team of porters and guide.

Day 4
Wayllabamba to Pacaymayu
We will wake up early in the morning to enjoy a lovely coca tea and a good breakfast prepared by our team of cooks. This is the most difficult, challenging day of the trail, but by no means impossible. We will ascend to the highest point of the Inca Trail: The Warmiwañuska Pass (also known as Dead Women´s Pass at 4215 m. / 13828 Ft). On the way there, your Authentic Treks guide will explain about the different microclimates, such as the highlands, rainforest, glaciers and incredible views further up at the top of a mountain. We will have to be prepared to face strong Andean weather (sun, wind, and rain sometimes) so we will take the hike slow and drink plenty of water. After approximately 5 hours of hiking the trail, we will reach the top of Warmiwañuska Pass.
Once there we will have an amazing view of the Vilcanota and Vilcabamba Mountain range. There will be plenty of time to rest and take pictures. If we are lucky, we might even see the condors soaring around above the mountains. After spending a good amount of time at the highest point we will descend through Inca steps into another valley for another 1½ to arrive at the second campsite, where we will have lunch and stay overnight (It’s better to have lunch after the highest point).

Day 5
Pacaymayu to Wiñay Wayna
This will be one of the longest days of your private tour, but one of the most beautiful along the Inca Trail. We will explore some Inca Archeological sites and will have a chance to enjoy the amazing rainforest. There will be views of the gorgeous Cordillera Vilcabamba and the Urubamba valley from a distance.
As this day is longer, we will wake up earlier and enjoy another freshly cooked Authentic Treks breakfast. We will ascend for 2 hours through a steep trail to reach the second Pass Runkuracay. On our way, we will stop at Runkuracay archeological site (3700 m.a.s.l) for a small culture lesson. Once at the top we will start descending for 1 hour to get to Sayaqmarca archeological site (3600 m.a.s.l) known as, Military Place. Here there will be a chance to explore, and you will learn more about Inca history. We will then continue through the valley for another 2 hours, traveling up and down to reach Phuyupatamarca archeological site (3700m.a.s.l). If the sun is out, this is one of the nicest places to have a view of Machu Picchu Mountain. To finish the afternoon, we will descend for another 3 hours, along the way we will walk through the Inca tunnels and find other archeological sites. We will have a chance to have some fun with Llamas, as well as stop and explore. We will then reach the third and final camp site called Wiñay Wayna (2700m.a.s.l), which means forever young.

We will head to the checkpoint and wait for it to open so we can start our hike towards the "Lost City of the Incas."
