Machu Picchu Inca Trail Hike - 2 Days
Day 1
Cusco to Machu Picchu (Hiking Day)
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4 am to start the journey by private transportation along with an Authentic Trek guide. We will drive to Ollantaytambo and take the train to Km 104 (about 1 hour and 20 minutes) where we will begin our hike at the Inca Trail checkpoint.
We will soon reach Chachabamba (2,170 m / 7,170 ft)—a rest stop for the Incas and for us—and then continue on for 2-3 hours passing a beautiful waterfall on our way to Wiñay Wayna. This archeological site offer a beautiful view of the Sacred Valley.
Then 2 hours of hiking up and down a part of the Inca Trail, we will reach the Sun Gate . The Sun Gate is called Intipunku in the Native language of Quechua. This is where we will have our first spectacular view of Machu Picchu city and there will be plenty of time to take amazing pictures of the city with its surrounding landscapes.
We will then hike for 45 minutes all the way downhill to the sanctuary of the Incas once we will arrive there we will also have time to get the classic pictures of the city from the upper part. We will then take the bus to Aguas Calientes where you will check into the hotel. Dinner will be in one of the finest restaurants in the town (not included).

Day 2
Machu Picchu Tour
We will have our nice breakfast at the same hotel where you stay the night and then we walk for less than 10 minutes to the bus station to take an early bus (5:30 am) back to Machu Picchu. Along the winding road to Machu Picchu we will see the spectacular sunrise. Once in the Sacred City you will be given a 2-hour walking tour into the city by your Authentic Guide and then we will have the opportunity to climb Huayna Picchu mountain if you wish. (Price for this is not included in your tour price.) The hike begins at 7 AM to10 AM. If you are not climbing the mountain you will have free time to explore more of Machu Picchu before we will return to Aguas Calientes town by bus.
In Aguas Calientes, there will be time to have lunch (not included) and in the afternoon we will board an expedition train for a scenic ride to Ollantaytambo. In Ollantaytambo, your Authentic Treks driver will meet you at the train station to take you back to Cusco city by bus (about 1 hour and 45 minutes) and we will drop you back at your hotel (hotel not included).
